My name is Jeremy Liu. I work full-time as a computer software engineer, and I study music composition as a hobby. This is a site about me and my music.

As a hobbyist, it is difficult to find musicians who would perform my music (for free). As a result, I am relying on MIDI rendition to approximate the real performance. These audio samples rendered by computer may give you a glimpse of my music.

I'm currently taking a break from music composition, in the hope of finding a direction and motivation again.

About My Music

I enjoy and value traditions from the 18th century in Western classical music; at the same time, I'm intrigued by the ideas from the late 19th and the 20th century. Melodically, I have a strong tendency to follow the traditional voice-leading rules, but harmonically, I prefer a more contemporary sound. The styles of my music so far have not been too far away from those of the 19th century, but I will certainly explore more alternatives in the future.
